Olivier Awards with MasterCard

Society of London Theatre (SOLT) is looking for public panellists for the Olivier Awards!

This year’s judging period for shows that are eligible for the Oliviers, the most prestigious awards in West End theatre, runs from 6 March 2013 for approximately 12 months.

The 2014 Olivier Awards with MasterCard will be held at a central London venue, and, in addition to taking advantage of a year of free theatregoing, members of the judging panel will be invited, with a guest, to the awards event and the after-show party where they will be able to mingle with the stars.

Members of the public are needed for the four panels; Theatre, Opera, Dance and Affiliate, which judges work in some of London’s most prominent smaller venues.

To have the chance to become a panellist please send in a 150 word review of a play, musical, dance show or opera that you have seen over the last year, together with a list of all the other shows you have seen in that period, and the completed application form. Please note that only people aged 18 and over are eligible.

Applications must be received by Tuesday 5 Febraury. People who are chosen by SOLT to go through to the next stage of the process will be invited to attend a short interview at the SOLT offices in Covent Garden on either 21 or 25 February 2013.

Applicants will only be contacted if they have been selected for interview. Those who are then chosen to join the panel will be notified within a week of their interview.

Panellists commit themselves to seeing all the eligible shows in their categories (ranging from around 100 plays/musicals a year to around 30 operas) during the judging year, and usually receive two free (and best available) tickets to each show, plus a complimentary programme. The position lasts for a year and is unpaid. No expenses are paid.

This is a wonderful chance to be at the heart of Theatreland and to help decide who wins London’s most glittering theatrical prize!
